FAQs

What is Bikeability?

Bikeability Scotland is a cycle training scheme designed to give children the skills and confidence they need both to cycle safely on the roads, and to encourage them to carry on cycling into adulthood.

Our training is delivered by Local Authorities, almost exclusively through participating schools – the instructors are volunteers and are normally teachers at the school, or parents or community members associated with it.

Bikeability Scotland is managed by Cycling Scotland, the national organisation for cycling promotion, on behalf of the Bikeability Scotland Delivery Group.

Where can I access cycle training for my child, outwith schools?

You can seek cycle training for your child from:

  • our recommended training outlet partners found here.
  • any local bike retailer, training outlet, club or organisation with appropriately qualified staff

Alternatively, you can contact us or your local authority for advice.
