Study tours

Study tours start at 13:00 and finish at 16:00.

Study Tour 1 – Roseburn to the Shore and the New Town

Start location: Murryfield

Departing from Murrayfield Stadium, you'll cycle along the cycle path from Roseburn to the Shore, stopping for a break at the Shore. Then visit Port of Leith Housing Association, to hear about what they are doing for active travel for residents and staff, through their involvement with Cycling Scotland’s Social Housing Fund. 

Following up with a cycle back through the New Town via Leith Walk (using quiet roads) and join the cycle path at Haymarket Yards to return to Murrayfield to conclude the tour.

This is a medium-length study tour and will be cycled at an easy pace.

Study Tour 2 – West End to Cramond and South Queensferry (TBC)

Start location: Murryfield

You'll depart from Murrayfield Stadium, cycling out via Roseburn cycle path through the West End to Cramond. The tour will then continue out to South Queensferry, where you'll have the opportunity to view the cycling infrastructure on the Forth Crossing (TBC), then return to Murrayfield to conclude the tour.

This is a longer-length study tour and will be cycled at an easy pace.

[Fully booked] Study Tour 3 – West Edinburgh Link, featuring Edinburgh Napier University and NHS Health Scotland

Start location: Murryfield

You'll depart from Murrayfield Stadium and cycle on the West Edinburgh active travel infrastructure to the Gyle and Sighthill areas. At the stop to visit Edinburgh Napier University and NHS Health Scotland, you'll participate in tours and hear about their work to promote cycling and active travel. You'll then return to Murrayfield to conclude the tour.

This is a medium-length study tour and will be cycled at an easy pace.

Study Tour 4 – Visit to The Bike Station Edinburgh and cycle to Little France

Start location: Summerhall

This tour is an active travel tour, involving walking and cycling. You'll travel from Summerhall on foot to visit The Bike Station Edinburgh where you'll get demonstrations on the work of The Bike Station in the City and will have the opportunity to participate in activities. 

You’ll then go on a cycle ride using refurbished bikes from The Bike Station to the Little France area to visit newly built active travel infrastructure and finish the tour back at The Bike Station.

Study Tour 5 – Southside Walking Tour

Start location: Summerhall

This tour is a walking tour. You'll depart from Summerhall and travel to the Southside of the city to explore the area and visit key active travel infrastructure. Then travel back via the Meadows, visiting The University of Edinburgh George Square Campus for a campus tour and to hear about the university’s work as a Cycling Friendly Campus.

Study Tour 6 – Workshop: Edinburgh Street Design Guidance

Takes place at Murryfield

This is a workshop which will take place inside Murrayfield Stadium. Lead by City of Edinburgh Council, the workshop provides you with the opportunity to discuss the Edinburgh Street Design Guidance work.
