Support Plus funding available for Bikeability Scotland cycle training

1st May 2018

Support Plus is a financial support package (up to a maximum of £20,000), offered to local authorities committed to increasing delivery of Bikeability Scotland Level 2 on-road cycle training.

Increased flexibility
Over 2,000 people support the delivery of Bikeability Scotland each year, including school staff, parents and other volunteers. Cycling Scotland has reviewed the role of Instructor Mentors and will be extending the scope of mentoring. Instructor Mentors can now be used to lead sessions and contribute towards delivery ratios, where they will be supported by a trained member of school staff and any volunteers. For further details please see the relevant section in the attached Guidance Notes.

Specific to your local authority
In recognition of the unique circumstances and environment in each local authority area, any other items or activities proposed, where you can demonstrate how they will contribute to increasing the rate of on-road cycle training delivery, will be considered.

Level 3 delivery package
In collaboration with East Renfrewshire Council, Cycling Scotland has developed a recommended Level 3 delivery package.  Instructor mentors may deliver this, or their own Level 3 programme, where accompanied by at least one CTA trained member of teaching staff per school. To find out more about successfully running this programme, we’ll be happy to put you in contact with Keith Fergus, of East Renfrewshire Council, who has worked closely with us to develop this.

Applications will be shortlisted by Cycling Scotland on their individual merits and prioritised against the criteria shown on the application form.

Please read the Guidance Notes carefully before completing the application.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on 1st August 2018.
